I don’t think there is text

Do you see her picture? Is there an arrow in the middle?

Just click the arrow and you should hear her speech, you don’t have to belong to Twitter to listen or read the replies

Questions has complained before about tweets and i used to only see links till i learned to see the actual content, now i enjoy them

I honestly didn’t know there was text to post but thank you for assuming the worst

Btw deaf people would benefit from opening the tweet and reading the comments too… I have found there’s usually more info in the comments than the original post

Edited to add that I just realized you responded to yourself, which is weird but doesn't make my point less valid. It just makes me not care so much, since you're being rude to yourself.

I always think about hearing impaired people when videos alone are posted.

Here's a link to the YouTube video and, if you press the three dots to the right of Like/Dislike/Share/Save under the video, you can open the transcript. It's probably flawed but at least you get the gist of a video.

She literally put her life on the line. She spoke unpopular truths. The radical right will not be pleased.

I had no idea your were deaf.

Basically she said that she’s suffered from depression for a long time. All of her therapy is based on the past. If we don’t teach kids about our racist history then we are dealing with the actual problem. It’s not pretty but we have to talk about it.

Better than usual. All that's missing is capitalization and punctuation, and the very last word (which I didn't hear either.)

uh good evening board members my name is
00:01
melanie moore i am the parent of a third
00:04
and fourth grader in district two
00:05
and i'm grateful for the opportunity to
00:07
speak with you this evening
00:08
the issue i would like to address is the
00:10
need for equitable education in
00:12
all areas but first i'd like to share a
00:15
little something personal
00:16
i struggle with depression i have for
00:18
many years
00:19
i've gone to counselors throughout the
00:21
years and one of the first things they
00:24
ask me is
00:25
tell me about your family of origin tell
00:27
me about your past
00:29
what happened to you in your past that
00:31
is causing the current trauma and pain
00:33
that you're feeling
00:35
in the same way our country cannot begin
00:37
to heal until we deal with the pain
00:39
trauma and hurt from our past we
00:42
must teach our children the truth about
00:44
the past and then show them how to be
00:46
the change we wish to see
00:47
in the world we can help them connect
00:50
the dots from the awful events of the
00:51
past to the current issues that face our
00:53
country
00:54
so that real change can happen as
00:57
members of the white community we have
00:58
got to stop pushing the agenda that
01:00
diversity and truth and education is all
01:02
about indoctrination
01:04
shaming or placing guilt at the feet of
01:06
white people
01:08
no one is asking you to get up and place
01:10
your head on the chopping block
01:12
for the wrongs of the past people are
01:14
simply asking for their stories to be
01:16
heard and taught as ours have been for
01:18
generations
01:19
i would not allow my children to wallow
01:21
in anger pain and self-pity
01:23
i would do all i could to help them to
01:25
be the very best versions of themselves
01:27
even if it hurts to point out some
01:28
painful truths about their behavior
01:31
in the same way we have got to be honest
01:33
with ourselves and admit that systemic
01:35
racism is real
01:37
that this country was created and
01:38
prospered under the ideals of white
01:40
supremacy and that we are responsible
01:42
for writing the wrongs of our
01:43
forefathers
01:45
we did not create this mess but we are
01:47
the ones that have to clean it up
01:48
starting with honest equitable education
01:50
practices
01:51
now that will teach our children the
01:53
hard truths about our past so that they
01:54
can create a better future
01:57
i understand that change is hard but
01:59
it's got to come
02:01
racism is alive and well in this country
02:03
it's seen in the groups of white men
02:05
with torches chanting you will not
02:06
replace us to the fact that
02:08
in 2021 we still don't have a federal
02:10
anti-lynching hate crime law
02:15
we need to know better and then we need
02:17
to do better happy pride happy early

Meanwhile, Republican politicians are too busy figuring out how they can use Critical Race Theory to craft the right racist dog whistles to fire up their base and send them to the polls.
