Byron Brown sworn in for fifth term as Buffalo mayor

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Byron Brown is officially Buffalo's longest serving mayor.

Brown was sworn in for his fifth term at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site Friday morning.

Leading up to the moment, though, was anything but ordinary.

After losing the June Democratic primary, Brown launched a write-in campaign.

After November's election, it took a couple of weeks for all the ballots to be counted and Brown declared the winner.

Brown's long successful history & his knowledge of how a city govt functions, assured the voters in the end.

....turnout primary and there was a LOT of outside money thrown into the race.

Thankfully the voters of Buffalo recognized that and turned out in bigger numbers in the general election, where Brown won by 20%.

Buffalo is better off for that.

By the way, has India Walton conceded yet?

He won with over 59% of the vote to Ms Walton's 40%.

It was reported that the Rs showed up in mass to vote for Mayor Brown ... even so, the residents have spoken loudly.

So popular, in fact, that the republicans didn't even bother putting up a candidate against him in his 2nd, 3rd, or 4th term. Nor did they do so in this 5th election.

In his 2nd, 3rd, and 4th terms the republicans didn't even put up a candidate against him. Nor did they have a candidate in 2021, either

He also ran as a candidate for some other parties in his various elections, too.

So you can say what you want about support from voters of ANY parties - Democratic, republican, Working Families, etc. He was elected now FIVE times, the last four overwhelmingly.
