(13,556 posts)Fathers would be horrified by who some of the members of Congress are today. They also would be horrified by the fact that they are trying to do away with our democracy and also their ignorance of our constitution or maybe the fact they ignore what the constitution says.

(5,775 posts)... early forms of free public education. Not as egalitarian as we would want it, of course, but they were not against it in principle. At the time abortion was not illegal, and was even advertised in newspapers. I'm not sure about income taxes... there might not have been a concept of them to oppose... but property taxes are a form of wealth tax and they were not opposed to that.
