"SNIP........

A new USA Today/Suffolk University poll shows Democrats narrowly leading Republicans on the generic ballot, 39% to 37%, marking a major shift from the GOP’s previous 8-point lead in a November.

But it has narrowed and hopefully we see dems pick up the slack. It'll be nice to see them back at close to a 5-6 point lead like 2020. The maps are improving slightly for democrats so a slight lead in the generic ballot overall could keep em in the majority.

10. A single poll vs a weighted average...538 being the averaged figure from numerous polls...

I'll take it, though.

If the dem base is able to get motivated in order to say, preserve democracy, then the expectation that the gop is going to win could suppress the base, maybe?

No, no one should rest on his or her laurels and be complacent that a favorable outcome to the 2022 mid-terms is a mortal lock. But of the competing political visions of the two major parties go, I'd much rather be advocating for the Democrats than for the Republicans. We appeal to far more of the electorate than the Republicans do, and we have a far better record of accomplishments to back up our rhetoric.

We have 10 months. Let us proceed with a glad heart and a hopeful attitude.
