(20,998 posts)Time to take their lies, their falsehoods, and their memes and turn them against them.
The GOP*, the GQP*, the Republican leadership, etc., spend HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS each year to influence public opinion.
The number one rule of the Republican Ministry of Propaganda* is to make sure the TRUTH is demeaned and derided. They KNOW that if you tell a lie enough times, eventually some will adopt it as truth.
Vote. Every. Republican. Out. Of. Office.
NONE of them deserves re-election.
ALL of them are guilty of subverting democracy.
NOTHING will ever get better in the U.S. until the GOP* is gone!

(1,336 posts)Right up there with Repubs trying to blame leftists, Antifa, BLM for protesting and rioting an election outcome they supported.
I do believe every member of Congress (or in my case, the Canadian Parliament) should be required to take a mental competency test before being allowed to run.

If all Christians were like Joe Biden, fine, but they arent. We need to keep the Christo-fascists OUT of government.

(48,975 posts)But that would be the case anyway.
However the news will only play snippets of the speech. If it was in primetime more people would've seen the speech from start to finish.

(768 posts)It will take more than words of truth to stem the spread of fascism here in the USA.
One thing that Biden can't come out and say directly is that the Fascists won the first battle of the new Civil War on January 6th. How did they win it? The very fact that 75% of Republicans now believe the Big Lie is a testament to the power of their propaganda machine, and the success of January 6th.
What we need to be focusing on is the next battle in this war. What is the Administration and Congress doing to ensure democracy will survive that engagement? What are you and I doing to prepare? That's the only question that matters at this point.

(14,061 posts)This SO needed to be said.
A democratic republic is about the most fragile of all systems of government. One man can con millions into destroying it.
Im having the same emotional reaction to today as I did in the first couple years after 9/11.
Now to hold Trump and everyone else involved accountable.

Way to go Brandon. This is the anger we need to see from Dems, stop the damn my friends across the aisle shit. They attacked, are attacking our country. Get fuckin mad Dems. Thank you Joe, time for some of that out behind the barn anger, and action.

allegorical oracle
(2,357 posts)this one rated an A-plus. Prior to the speech, was hoping Biden would one make one key point. That point was that somehow, inexplicably, Republicans at the local, state, and national levels won races -- yet "fraud" occurred only at the top of the ballot. And that point was made. So thrilled.

(1,910 posts)Fox News had to rely on some 2 bit Congressman saying it was all Pelosi's fault for not providing more security. Talk about desperate distraction. Yeah, we caused it but you did not have enough there to stop what we caused. WTF.
Had there been more security, properly armed, likely hundreds of MAGAs would be dead right now.

Wow. His best with lasting, memorable lines...
esp "dagger to the throat of Democracy". Yeeeow!
And SO true!
Truthfully I'd never expect him to say something like that,
be willing to say it if it wasn't his word - I know there arespeech writers for all.of them. Different Presidents give them a template, over all frame, etc, then some gett very hands on, too, with their writers.
Calling out TFG lies. Ready to stand, and defend democracy.
A real push for us Democrats. Perhaps small batches of Republican voters with a shred of sanity, and listening left.
Yes, I got teary eyed here and there.
Only wish it had been in prime time.
wow!
