rights by the Supreme Court and the insurrection and attempt to overturn the last election by illegal and violent means together.
I know its a stretch, but right wing extremists are not just nut jobs with goofy flag hats. Sometimes they are nut jobs with black robes and gavels. Dismissing them as nut jobs is acutely dangerous as it allows them freedom from scrutiny. A lot of this we are witnessing stems from our ignorance of the seriousness of what our seditionist and traitorous citizens intend.
Probably the only two people safe in the attack on the Capital were Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley. Somehow I expect more from the DOJ on those two in the future. There, clearly, was a small but well organized group who intended lethal harm on any legislator they could get their hands on. Especially Congresswomen Pelosi and, oddly, Vice President Pence.
The arc of Garlands speech should not be overlooked. The attack on the capital and our democracy is part and parcel of a right wing legacy of voter suppression, intimidation and overt violence in order to attain, maintain and retain fascist authoritarian rule.
I think we have two elements to consider. The well educated who understand exactly what they are doing and the Fools who follow them. In this immediate case the Fools out ran their controllers ability to contain them. The attack on the capital was planned long before it occurred. The mob of Fools ruined it for the professionals who had more precise plans for subverting and destroying the election that they had lost.
Our democracy may well have been inadvertently saved by Fools run amuck. Now our DOJ will clean up the well educated who so cleverly thought they could pull down the worlds best version of self rule and pocket it for themselves.
I sincerely hope that Garlands speech is a portent of what is to come. A portent of real law enforcement brining real consequences to the ring leaders of this crime.

This isn't a revolt by the working class it is a revolt against democracy by the people listed on Forbes richest Americans.
