Wondering how Republican minds are taking the revelations of January 6?

Not all Republicans are hardcore MAGAs. And what I mean by that, is that they do support Trump, and they supported the Insurrection, but would never actually participate in these events.

Before Trump, for the sake of maintaining their relationships with Dems and minorities, they resorted to self-censoring, or, really didn't think much about politics. I use to think that I knew them. But, as it turned out, Trump exposed the cracks in their personalities.

When I was younger, self-censoring is what passed for civility. And, I can understand that. As a minority, I self-censored when I was younger, because I thought that assimilation rested on my shoulders. I thought that acceptance into white circles was the objective. But, as it turned out, Trump exposed the cracks in that thinking.

So I made the correction on my own, knowing that I lost friends by half. But I always wondered if the Republican ex-friends will ever understand what is going on, and will they make the necessary adjustments to adapt to this new world. I don't have confidence in their resilience. They don't have the cultural reference points to understand how their upbringing painted them in a corner.

This is a breed that does not like confrontation. On a superficial basis, they believe that it's better to be kind, than to be right. Which might explain how they got themselves in that corner to begin with. Up to now, everything about them involved accepting and repeating conservative tropes, because that's where they found approval among their own kind.

But it now looks like the revelations of January 6th was an eye opener for some of them. They now know that their beliefs are going to get shellacked by a watershed of truth and consequences. So, I wondered how they were taking it.

On Facebook, they are gravitating to the post below. If there are stages to changing behavior, I suspect this is the first step. I just hope, it's not the last.

"Republican" and "Mind".
If they actually possessed the power of thought, they would not be followers of "The Big Lie"
