Swing district voters are still mad about GOP efforts to undermine the 2020 election

By Josh Israel -January 7, 2022 9:36 AM

New polling finds strong disapproval among swing voters of their own elected officials' attempts at rejecting President Joe Biden's 2020 victory.

A new survey released on Thursday shows a majority of swing district voters are opposed to efforts by their own GOP elected officials to undermine the results of the 2020 election.

One year ago, on Jan. 6, 2021, 139 House Republicans and eight GOP senators tried to overturn the results of the 2020 elections and reject President Joe Biden's Electoral College victory. That effort preceded the violent riot and Capitol insurrection carried out by angry supporters of then-President Donald Trump, who sought to block that win and keep Trump in the Oval Office.

Data for Progress, a progressive think tank and polling firm, released a survey on Thursday of likely voters in four GOP-held swing House districts and across the state of Georgia. It found that strong majorities of each believe Biden was the bona fide 2020 winner and that most also opposed congressional efforts against certifying those results.

during their campaigns, especially in swing districts. For members of Congress who voted against confirming the electoral vote, that fact should become a main campaign issue in every one of their districts. While it may not work in every district, it will definitely work in some of them.

Similarly, slamming Republicans who supported the Big Lie will be very effective against those Republicans among swing voters. It won't affect Trump base voters, but they're beyond conversion in the first place.

In districts where a Trumper candidate wins the primary over a sitting Republican, that will be even more important. Campaign against them using Trump and their support for that same Big Lie.

Any Democrat who doesn't use this stuff in the campaign is just not paying attention. Make Republicans who stood with Trump pay for that in lost votes. Forget the Trump base. Focus on swing voters. Hard!

that must be asked...Why do you NOT want to have my vote count?
And why did you CONSPIRE to throw out my vote and sign a letter and stand in the well of the Congress to do that?
