Who can save America?
First of all, we need a leader that can heal the divisions? If Joe Biden cannot do it, then where would he/she be?
The "Big Lie" did not happen spontaneously. There were 30,000 smaller lies that grew to maturity. We should have learned that lies cannot be permitted to permeate our society the way they have done in the last few years. All lies must be challenged very aggressively. They cannot be permitted to grow and thrive.
The person that leads this country must tell the people the truth. There are not two sides to every story, even if the attempt is to be "fair and balanced".
I do not doubt that our nation is at risk. How do we change the direction we are going?
I do not know.
But, I know that we cannot get there by embracing lies and falsehoods.

He kicked the money-changers out of the temple.
What did they do to make him so angry?

(21,334 posts)because DOJ allowed a pro-Trump Cyber Ninja group access to ballots, voter information, election material and equipment which should have remained in the possession of election officials. Had DOJ prosecuted this first fraudit they wouldn't have spread to other states where they are being used to purge honest election officials and replacing them with Magats along with promoting the Big Lie.
i even cited the federal law here dozens of times that the Cyber Ninjas violated.

But, in my opinion, the "Big Lie" was born when Trump said that the election was going to be stolen and was not challenged on his comments. He had no evidence. He just lied about it. The "Stop the Steal" movement was a big lie to "Steal the Election".

(111,092 posts)...he sent out Sean Spicer to tell America that the crowd at his inauguration was the largest ever in history. Period.
The press actually called them on that one and the ridicule should have made them gun-shy about continuing the lies but it only seemed to embolden them.

(43,157 posts)The reason we're in this pickle is because the Fed thought it tamed the business cycle. We haven't had a cleansing cyclical recession since 1973-75. One that wipes out debtors, shuts businesses for good, repurposes capital assets, gives poor people a break on prices. The Great Recession was limited to home owners and MBS investors, largely. Every economic sneeze is met with QE on steroids. We're now at a point where capital is free but citizens aren't making progress, and holding capital - in capitalism! - is a losing strategy. They've tried to stimulate us into economic hyperactivity. We're as much machinery as an assembly line. Joe Biden is setting us up for better days when, paradoxically, the economy turns down, likely on his watch. He is rewarding labor, and innovating like no other. Investment in productivity yields a payoff. Life will be leaner, goods will be scarce but better quality, but we'll keep it going.

There's a reason the right-wing focused on filling positions on boards of education across the country back in the 80s. They're doing it again, getting involved in local school board meetings, to influence vax/mask requirements, what aspects/perspective of history will be taught, & which books are/aren't allowed in school/public libraries. And once again, our side is not paying attention. We focus on the big picture, too much, not the details. We focus on federal elections/candidates/issues more than local. They on the other hand are laser focused. And highly motivated.
One idea I had was to implement a student exchange program, much like some schools have with other countries. Only this would be a rural/urban exchange. Send city kids to the country for a semester, & country kids to the city. See how the other side lives. Walk a mile in their shoes. And do it when they're young.
