Clive artist's crane installation honors the thousands of Iowans who've died of COVID-19
This is a wonderful idea.
An art installation currently on display in Ankeny strives to memorialize Iowans who have died of COVID-19 and help those grieving understand they are not alone.
Pam Douglas of Clive has folded thousands of origami paper cranes, many with names written on them, to represent the Iowans who have died of the disease a number that now totals more than 8,000. The cranes are now part of a traveling art exhibit, hanging from the ceiling as windows shine light as part of the vibrant installation.
. . .
Douglas added she hopes the installation will help people heal and that people will realize others are grieving in their communities as ongoing divisiveness has caused them to break apart. She also hopes to remember those whose end-of-life experiences have been affected by COVID.
