I am looking squarely at two disloyal senators who are blocking pretty much our entire agenda in the Senate.
Why should people elect Democrats when those elected Democrats will not act upon the will of the people?

(21,755 posts)Because of two reps being assholes, Dems deserve to lose their majority? Yeah... Fuck that shit.

(5,225 posts)81 million of us voted for Democracy. Put the. Blame where it belongs, squarely in the laps of two Senators who were bribable. A shunning, loss of committee assignments and loss of benefits to their states is in order.

(46,039 posts)Those two deserve to lose their seats, and I imagine Sinema won't win her primary. But the rest of us don't deserve this.
I took calls to help voters in NC in November 2020. I made calls to GA for the two senators. No way do I deserve to have the Republicans take over.

But I see your point, the public may indeed be thinking along the lines you suggest.

(13,417 posts)Granted, the Repubs won't give them those things either;; but the Republican Party will obscure that failure. It's not just the Senate. This ban on congressional stock trading which Pelosi opposes is another item which is very popular among the public but won't pass for ridiculous reasons. We are going to get shellacked in November for failing to deliver for the American people.

You need to reassess how this all works.

You're not going to like the results.

(12,618 posts)The solution is to elect more Dems so that the two assholes holding everything up are irrelevant. You kind of rhetoric is not going to help make that happen, to put it politely.

What we the people deserve is a solid majority of senators eager to fight for the people.

(8,329 posts)How dare we not deliver even though there are 52 people who do not agree in a 50/50 Senate. Here is a thought, lets elect a few more democrats instead of thinking the right idea is to give up the majority.

(15,206 posts)When a bare majority of Democrats can't get the people what they want, but the great majority of that majority is doing it's best, then the SMART thing is to elect MORE Democrats so outliers like Manchin and Sinema can't fuck things up.
But your way of thinking, the fuck-the-details-I'm-pissed-and-that's-what-counts attitude, plays perfectly into the Republican's playbook. So congrats on being a willing participant in the dumbing-down of democracy.

(13,417 posts)Do you really think the masses of low information voters are going to give Dems another crack at things or do you think they will switch over to Republicans because they have no idea what Republicans really represent? People are naive at best if they think these voters are going to stand beside the Democrats here.

(9,888 posts)looking for from Democrats that they haven't delivered that might now be delivered by Republicans? Who thinks like this? I've been waiting DECADES for Democrats to get rid of the death penalty, but I'm not so delusional that I think I should give Repubs a chance. Obama said he was going to close Guantanamo, he didn't, so now I will vote for Republicans because they might? Never.
I don't think it's about people switching sides in the hope that the other side will make good on the first side's campaign promises. I think it's about who turns out. When people don't get what they want they stay home because "both parties are the same."
