Should Dems trade leniency for legislation?

Would you be in favor of Democrats using potential criminal charges against Republicans in the 1/6 insurrection as leverage in order to get 60 votes on voting rights and Build Back Better Legislation passed?

We do know that are more than 300 Republican congresspeople, White House cabinet aids and staff were involved in the planning and coordination in the insurrection but we are not certain that everyone involved will be charged or even investigated. Just an investigation into their actions could be damaging. But in the event that is a great possibility of criminality should Democrats show leniency in various levels exchange for passage of Legislation, especially now that Sinema has blocked all hopes?
I am not suggesting a clean slate by no means only SOME LENIENCY.
Would you do it?

Read up on your history and look at the highest esteemed of our leaders and the deals cut for elections, war, legislation and constitutional amendments. Hell just watch the movie Lincoln- more deals were cut to pass the 13th amendment than what has been suggested here.

about me that would in any remote way grant you agency to direct that sort of arrogant, condescending comment in my direction.

knowledge nor your experience. You have no idea what my background and knowledge set (historical and otherwise) is, yet you tried to bow up and insult and belittle me, which is never going to tolerated from my end.

…. Look at the wealth of Congress before they were in office and currently. Subtract their salaries and look at their expenses, there is money coming from somewhere. It is public information Opensecrets.Org

Get them to go along, thinking they'll have some cover from prosecution.. Once passed, gut the motherfuckers. Prosecute them to the full extent of the law. They deserve vastly worse.

4. Firstly, that unethical from a prosecutorial/justice standpoint.

Secondly, that would never work even in a situation where the DOJ was co corrupted/compromised as to go along with it or Biden was so corrupt as to issue thousands of preemptive pardons.

Repukes would not agree to pass the legislation until they had some sort of guarantee, such as the pardons in hand -- because they would double-cross if it were them in that position, so they project that onto Dems/Biden -- at which time they would betray the deal and still not pass anything.

2 Democratic Senators sold out to Republican donors to stop democratic legislation- preach to them about ethics and see where that gets you.

So even if you don't care about ethics, they care about their own ideas of their own professional ethics, however narcissistic they may be (or may not be) in that consideration. Being defiantly supposedly apolitical is an enormous ego boost for many of them.

...it assumes there actually ARE criminal charges against Republicans (presumably in Congress). That has yet to be shown ("we know they're guilty" doesn't count)

...it's flagrantly illegal. Criminal charges are disposed of in Court.

...it assumes that DOJ can be directed to withhold criminal charges in favor of legislative votes (also flagrantly illegal).

People seem to be desperately clawing at any solution.
