I'm looking forward to a few things ...

... in 2022.

I'm looking forward to truths being revealed, crimes being exposed - and ultimately, to justice being done.

But above all else, I am really looking forward to smirks being wiped off certain faces.

You know what I'm talking about - those dismissive, totally arrogant smirks that have been such a permanent feature on certain faces over the past few years, it's hard to picture certain people without them.

It's a smirk that says "I can get away with anything", and when they suddenly realize that they didn't - well, the facial expression that replaces that smirk is a beautiful thing to behold.

Those idiots can't work up a decent smirk - it interferes with their usual facial expressions: puzzlement and/or feigned outrage.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Steve Bannon, Don Jr., Giuliani, Sydney Powell, Jim Jordon - ah, yes, especially Jim Jordan - and all of the other assholes who have strutted around wearing a perpetual smirk because they believed that being 'in' with Trump meant permanent immunity from any consequences.

A lot of these people thought Trump's coup would be an overwhelming success, and they'd be rewarded for their loyalty after-the-fact. The smarter ones are now realizing just how deep in the shit they are. (For example, I'm sure that behind his usual swagger and smirk, Steve Bannon was actually shitting himself when he was indicted.)

Nothing wipes that 'knowing' smirk off a face like that moment you realize that your all-powerful Messiah no longer has the power to save you - and whatever power he has left will be devoted to saving his own ass.
