Is MAGA an "anti-Christian" movement?

They seem to stand for everything the Bible speaks against.

They are anti-peace, anti-morality, anti-intellectualism, anti-truth, anti-compassion, etc.

They cling to their guns and preach violence. They threaten to kill their neighbors who might disagree with them. They believe lies, without evidence, that do harm to everyone else. They practice paganism by disavowing knowledge and science, as people die from a worldwide pandemic. They have little compassion for their fellow man.

This "anti-Christian" movement is not what it preaches. It is not on the side of God, as spoken of in the Bible. They are the complete opposite.

People who need a God create one in their own image. It's the easiest thing in life to do. And then they all flock together like birds of feather to codify their prejudices, fears and hates.

Which is almost impossible to do in propositional terms.

If you're going to define "Christian" by what is said in the Bible, then most self-identifying Christians would be excluded from your definition, liberal-progressive Christians included.

Does a name or label that points to 'no-thing' (physical or mental) have any meaning?
Is there any 'extent-real' that is also undefinable?

To answer my own question, many 'words' are used in manners disconnected from reality.

It seems that 'objective reality' is often distorted, denied, or defended by words, names, labels, pointers used too subjectively.
We all live in a Humpty Dumpty defined world.

13. Christianity has been around a lot longer than Democracy

Thinking of a particular type of very recent, modern idea of "what is Christianity" ignores the fact that "Hippie Jesus" has not existed for most of the history of Christianity.

Christianity has been quite accommodating to "anti-peace, anti-morality, anti-intellectualism, anti-truth, anti-compassion, etc."

I'll take just pick one for now:

Anti-compassion : Unless you are going to confine "Christianity" to "a belief system about 'being nice' to others, but which really doesn't have any other consequences," then you have to deal with the fact that a good deal of Christianity reduces to "believe this or suffer really bad consequences". The story of the servant, for example, who goes to Heaven and can see his rich master suffering in Hell but, oh shucks, can't give him water; or the general proposition that there will be no sorrow in Heaven, but not everyone's going, points up a particular kind of callousness that Christianity ultimately requires - i.e. nobody in Heaven is going to feel bad about those who don't show up. That kind of thing works well as the ultimate revenge fantasy, which is why Christianity is popular among oppressors and oppressed alike.

By and large, Christians of what would appear to be the "this religion has consequences" variety are fully aware that friends and loved ones of theirs will suffer eternal torment for their disbelief, and that they also realize they won't care or feel badly about that.

Next up, "anti-peace". For that we'll defer to our spokesman, Willifred the Avenger:

It used to be that the only thing that bothered me about this small-business owner was all the religious tracks in his lobby. He had them for years, and they disappeared after TGF was elected. He only puts on his mask when a masked customer enters his shop. His conversations indicate he's definitely MAGA. His language used to be clean, and now he swears all the time. I believe he couldn't reconcile his Christianity with MAGA, so he chose the latter.

It's the product of conservative "men of God" telling their followers that God agrees with them on everything, especially politics. This has been an indoctrination that's been going on for generations. It's a good business model - there's no introspection on their side because everyone else - because they're not them - is the enemy of God, and they're the ones making everything bad. Trump was anointed by God according to them so when he lost, it wasn't because he was an unpopular president who failed America, but because those in league with the Mangoat had stolen his victory.

"Prophets" and other right-wing religious charlatans are among the most vocal in pushing the stolen election conspiracy theory and to varying degrees saying that Trump will be reinstated. They run the gamut from cynically understanding this is what their flock wants to hear to believing their own delusions.

Either done by or approved by their God. All RW talking heads on the radio are now pushing Christianity along with their political talk. Don JR. recently said that the peaceful part of the Bible has not worked for them, hinting that it is time for the Old Testament solutions.

Not a coincidence evilgelicals like my dad, believe Pro Wresslin is 100 percent real, and Fox, OAN and NewsMax is all fact, everything else is fake. Human gullibility has made billionaires out of those that can tap into that. From the beginning of our existence. Now social media has made it sooooo easy.

The loose term MAGA encompasses more than one group of people and those that want to claim God is on their side were off the beam long before TFG was given a bullhorn. At the moment, they are enjoying using each other for their own purposes, but when the relationship stops being useful, they'll break up - each going on as before.

What is the real frustration for me is how many good decent church going help thy neighbor in a heartbeat types have bought into the lie that you can't be a good Christian and be a member of the Democratic Party at the same time - because gays and abortion.

Christianity already requires a bit of mind bending to accept the stories on faith. Asking the fundamentalist types to mind bend more to accept a person like TFG as some sort of Christian icon is not going a whole lot further. The Army of God fighting the devil of gay and abortion glory halleluia, amen. America chosen by God to be the light on a hill and turn the heathens to God.

It produces a lot of ugly. It produces people willing to make excuses that should not be made. With only a little of the right propaganda coming from the right place they can be motivated to do a lot of harm.

There's my concern in the long run. The red hat group will eventually die out but the mindset that props up the most fervent of them isn't going anywhere.
