I applaud countries who are taking the necessary step to control COVID. We need vaccine passports and idiots who are too stupid to get vaccinated should be isolated in order to control this disease

Faced with lingering pockets of vaccine hesitancy, or outright refusal, many nations are imposing ever stricter rules and restrictions on unvaccinated people, effectively making their lives more difficult in an effort to convince them to get their shots......
Germany has banned unvaccinated people from most areas of public life, and the country's Health Minister, Karl Lauterbach, warned in December that: "without mandatory vaccination I do not see us managing further waves in the long term."
And France's President Emmanuel Macron last week told Le Parisien newspaper that he "really wants to piss off" the unvaccinated. "We're going to keep doing it until the end," he said. "This is the strategy."
The article describes the protest movement in Europe by these anti-vaxxer idiots. I have no sympathy for these idiots and it would be a good idea to adopt more of these programs.

(54,369 posts)European countries are very small, and most governments have a control freak mentality.
You can leave one extreme of Germany after an early breakfast, drive straight to the other end, and be there in time for dinner. You can drive from one end of the Netherlands to the other in less than four hours, Belgium less than three. To drive from my home on the eastern bank of the Rhein in Germany to my office in western Holland takes about 2 hours.
The Europeans collect data on their citizens that would have even the most radical of the American left howling about government intrusion. The East Germans were so fanatic about collecting information on their citizens, they drowned in it. Even in the Federal Republic, when I moved there and got an accountant to do my taxes, they sent incredibly detailed requests for info to my American accountant, who said anyone in the USA trying to get that information from them would be jailed for illegal privacy intrusion, and I had to personally sign off that I was OK with their releasing it.
Anyone planning bombings or shootings is probably already on some police radar, and even assembling guns or materials to make explosives is extremely difficult without becoming conspicuous. The German authorities send in undercover infiltrators to every group they can, if they sense danger down the road. If a resistance group is confirmed non-violent, they will probably never know the extent of their infiltration. If they amass weapons, expect a paramilitary armed response, especially in France. Europe survives on commerce and tourism. Anything that endangers either is considered a national threat, and will be dealt with accordingly.

I also am pretty sure Omicron has boosted US numbers. By how much? Who knows...
This data is also messy because it's polling... Not actual shots in arms.
Trust there are right wingers in this country who will take the shot and answer a poll differently with little to no cognitive dissonance...
