Several of the miltia members and other insurrectionists were paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in Bitcoin.
"Cryptocurrency is used by criminals to launder funds from diverse types of crimes, from real-world crimes and schemes to cyber-crimes, digital fraud and thefts of cryptocurrencies from online exchanges." That's the definition I got when I Googled it.
I still say Putin, Saudi Arabia and who knows, funded the insurrection. If any politicians are getting Bitcoin they too are being funded by foreign money. I know the select committee claims it is following the money but it sure would be nice if DOJ was doing the same.
Foreign money has bought off the GQP, I just have a feeling, no proof. It certainly looks like it funded the militias and others.

(52,227 posts)The amount of criminal activity committed with good old Americans dollars absolutely dwarfs what's committed using crypto.
The Republican Party and the trump organization and all those traitors are awash in foreign money, that's no secret. Was some of it crypto? Maybe, so? what difference does it make?

(2,496 posts)There are problems with cryptocurrency, but it is public by design. However, I wish it was more private. There are many countries, think China et al, that crushes its citizens with truly Orwellian surveillance. Crypto that is private is a way to fight back against that tyranny.
