People didn’t vote to elect Senators, the state legislatures appointed them.

Folks right here on DU said things like:

“You voted for them. You get what you deserve.”

WI told you, “They will come for you next!”

So, now that they have come for the rest of you...Is this what you deserve?

We would have better representation under a parliamentary system and have more money in our pockets.

6. Let senators who total 60% of the population call for Cloture.

Republican Senator is the easiest job in the world. Bloviate, and then vote no.

The disparity between California's representation and Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska, Vermont, Delaware, Rhode Island, Montana, Maine, New Hampshire, Hawaii, Idaho, and West Virginia is breathtaking.

It's time to expand for equitable representation, and to take back the Supreme Court. I like the Wyoming plan for its simplicity, and I'm in favor of one Supreme for each of the 13 federal districts.

7. Article 3: The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State
Thu Jan 20, 2022, 06:09 PM
Jan 2022

It’s plainly laid out in the Constitution, and we know no one side will have the political clout to change the makeup of the Senate via changing the Constitution in any of our lifetimes.

People can fuss about it all day but it won’t change the fact that the Senate is not intended to represent the people, it was created to provide representation for the States, recognizing them each as equal entities. They weren’t going to convince the colonies to all come together without the states having equal power in a body like the Senate.

13. They were heard, in the House where they are represented

The Senate was never intended to provide equal representation to the people (that’s what the House is for), it was specifically designed to provide equal representation to the States.

16. Republic or a democracy?

Under the present constitutional arrangement, we can’t have both. It is presently a republic, not a democracy.

It’s one or the other.

17. The way I see it, 52 senators who upheld the filibuster were representing themselves.
Thu Jan 20, 2022, 07:03 PM

The filibuster primarily serves to allow them to hide from the people that they're supposed to represent.

Those 52 Senators didn't want to give up some of their power to the American People for democracy's sake.

Thanks for the thread pbmus.
