(52,206 posts)The final solution was horrific, sure.
But what they were already doing prior to that was horrific as well.
Before the final solution, they were rounding up Jews, stealing everything from them, raping them, killing them for any reason or for no reason in broad daylight with impunity, sending them to concentration camps, killing many of them, extracting slave labor from the rest, denying them basic necessities, and keeping them in situations that caused disease and more deaths.
So what was the final solution?
Pretty much the same, they just skipped the slave labor part. They just made the killing more efficient.
Horrific, yes. But they were already deep into horrific by that point.

(17,536 posts)Our Democracy is being disassembled in the same way. The American Fascist are fully capable of repeating the process of a final solution in the name of God and Country. We are about as aware of what is coming as the German people were in the 30s. We keep thinking that the problem will fizzle out and that he masses will come to their senses. There is nothing to indicate that that is happening. There is still time to turn it around, but the clock is running fast.
The Republican Fascist are positioned to regain full power in the Country. When they do, they will not relinquish it. They will make America great again if it kills us.
Yea, I am pessimistic, it comes from 50 years of studying history. I would be happier if I didn't see it coming.
