All the "wrong direction" poll #s the media like to cite to predict electoral disaster

for the party in power (as Chuck Todd did this morning) are COMPLETELY meaningless without a detailed breakdown of exactly WHY those polled believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.

You have to know how many, of the 70+% who are dissatisfied, blame the Democrats or blame the GOP. And why.

Otherwise that poll result is just statistics porn for desperate pundit doomsayers who want to predict a shellacking.

I'm going to have to stop watching Chuck Todd. I nearly fed a bowl of oatmeal to the TV.

It is a very old trick. During the debate of the ACA, a single 'don't approve' number was bandied about, without mention being made as many disapproved because it didn't go far enough as disapproved because they opposed the intent of the bill.

I do not approve of the direction the country is headed, and will not be able to until the Republican party joins the Federalists and Whigs in the discard pile.

It's always over 50% "NO" and you're reasons are sound. They don't break it down. Lazy journalism.

Unpopular politicians and parties

Finally, the NBC News poll finds every politician and political party it tested to be more unpopular than popular with the American public:

Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo.: 23 percent positive, 29 percent negative (-6)
President Joe Biden: 39 percent positive, 48 percent negative (-9)
The Republican Party: 34 percent positive, 44 percent negative (-10)
Donald Trump: 37 percent positive, 51 percent negative (-14)
The Democratic Party: 33 percent positive, 48 percent negative (-15)
Vice President Kamala Harris: 32 percent positive, 49 percent negative (-17)
