Posted this poll on December 4th, when it looked like an attack was inevitable:

I was pretty overwhelming, 75%, saying we (USA) should provide weapons and sanction Russia.
That certainly looks like what will happen.
Have feelings changed? Is that doing too much? Too little?

(17,536 posts)What the Germans, Poles, French and GB do than what we do. We all gave Putin Crimea and that just whetted his appetite. If all of our Nato allies stand fast, nobody will have to go to war.
If Putin bluffs his way into Ukraine, then it is just a matter of time for the rest of Europe. If our NATO allies waver it could lead to WWIII which may well be the War To End All Wars. Putin sees all of the right-wing movements in the Democracies and may believe it is the right time. (no pun intended) I hope he is wrong.
What the US does not need to do is put us in the position of having to fight the Russians in Europe alone or without total participation of our "allies." The last thing that any of us need is a shooting war in Europe.
If the world situation today does not give you a de ja vu feeling, you are not paying attention.
