President Biden will nominate a jurist who just got appointed in 2021 - here's a frontrunner

Said jurist has already been approved by the Senate and thus, has been vetted quite thoroughly. Some of those jurists even got Republican support.

I trust Biden and Schumer. They have no doubt been preparing for this since Inauguration Day.

In June 2021, the Senate confirmed Ketanji Brown Jackson to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals on a vote of 53-44. All 50 Democrats + 3 Republicans (Collins, Graham, Murkowski) voted yes.

It'll be around the same time. Not sure about either of their healths, but I'm guessing within the next 10 years.

Rumors were both were considering retiring under Trump. Both denied such claims.

But (In)Justice Clarence "Uncle Slappy" Thomas would sooner die than retire under a Democratic president. There is just no way he will voluntarily give up that seat to be replaced by a liberal. Same thing for Alito. If we're lucky, they'll pull a Ginsburg, and actually die in their seats under a Democrat, while he/she has control of the Senate. But, the way our collective luck as Democrats has gone since 2015, with respect to SCOTUS nominations, you'll forgive me if I don't hold my breath waiting on that particular set of circumstances to happen. I've probably got better odds of surviving another 18-wheeler encounter, beating cancer again, and winning both the Powerball and Megamillions lotteries. 😂

to nomination, according to Jonathan Chait:

Speculation, of course, but by a professional observer looking for clues and signals from certain quarters. It could pull the same direction as the strategy you mention.
