Susan Collins: "As you know, I felt that the timetable for the last nominee was too compressed."

Susan Collins: “As you know, I felt that the timetable for the last nominee was too compressed. This time there is no need for any rush. We can take our time, have hearings, go through the process, which is a very important one it is a lifetime appointment after all.”

Collins also told reporters in Maine yesterday that Durbin called her “to tell me that he will help to facilitate access not only to the nominee, but to materials or anything I need to guide my decision making and we talked a little bit about the timetable.”

Screeching about how there will be a terrible battle why would there be a battle when Mitch changed the rules to simple majority?

Just saw a poll where Biden has had twice as many Judges appointed as Trump did. Many more than any President since Reagan.

The cable news whines about such minor crisis. They miss the big ones. Last week it was war mongering, now a huge battle to replace Breyer.

court judges. By comparison, Donald Trump confirmed a total of 18 appeals and district court judges in his first year in office, Barack Obama confirmed 12, George W. Bush confirmed 28, Bill Clinton confirmed 27, George H.W. Bush confirmed 15 and Reagan tied with Biden at 40.

The crazies still have a 6-3 majority. If this was to replace Thomas or Alito, I think there would be a battle.

I'm even going to go out on a limb and say she gets 52 votes. Maybe more.

They can vote to support a black nominee for their black constituents, or they can vote against her for their white base.

Either way, they are worse off.

And less I forget, which I already did, ditto on voting for, or against a black woman, male constituents vs. female constituents.

Either way, they are worse off.

Republicans in a quandry. Maybe they'll turn to Mitch.

I believe there are 6 catholics currently on SCOTUS which means 3 are not catholic. Kagan and Breyer are Jewish. Gorsuch is Anglican. There are no Hindi, Muslim, Atheists.

IIRC the catholics are Thomas, Roberts, Alito, Sotomayer, Barret and Kavanaugh.

I believe if you look at history most of the justices have been white, protestant men.

Economy grew faster than it has since 1984. If anyone is old enough, interest rates were 15% back then.
