Republicans Want To Turn America Into Russia Instead Of Nazi Germany

Put some oligarchs in charge with one strong man.

Have fake elections, where they do the counting.

Go after anyone that gets in their way.

I think their dream country is Russia (here).

I read this - this morning:

Anocracy - A regime that mixes democratic with autocratic features

https://www.systemicpeace.org/

Users of the Polity data series should be aware that Polity measures patterns of authority demonstrated and observed in political behaviors involving interaction events between and within state and non-state entities. Polity measures political practices rather than proclamations. In 2016, CSP changed the coding for Political Competition in the USA to Factional Competition (i.e., POLCOMP=7); this coding change dropped the USA's POLITY score to +8. According to the PITF Global Model, this change to "factional competition" placed the USA at high risk of impending political instability (i.e., adverse regime change and/or onset of political violence). In 2019, CSP changed the USA code for Executive Constraints (EXCONST) from 7 to 6 due to the executive's systematic rejection of congressional oversight. In 2020, the coding for Executive Constraints fell another two points due to the executive's systematic purge of "disloyalists" from the administration, forceful response to protest, villification of the main opposition parties; and undermining public trust in the electoral process, reducing the USA POLITY score for 2020 to +5 (anocracy). The CSP COUP dataset lists an "attempted coup" (COUP=2) for the USA on 6 January 2021. The new executive administration that took office on 20 January 2021 corrected the EXREC deficiencies of the previous administration: the EXCONST code for the USA at the end of 2021 is coded 7 once again; however, the POLCOMP code remains 7 (factional), returning the POLITY score for the USA to +8 in 2021.

Russia is, by no means, the "Communists" of the Soviet Union. They are just another fascist regime, calling themselves something else.

And the Nazis were very adept at blaming everything on the ''left" (including Communists in Germany) for the actual things THEY did during the Weimar Republic . . . this allowed them to rise.

Not raging trumpers, but "moderates." Your vote is your voice, & they support a party that wants to make it harder for me to vote. They want to silence me because they disagree with me.

I do believe that is the plan. The billionaires believe themselves to be superior to all others and are supporting the party that will reward them for the superiority. TFG is just the fool they wanted to accomplish their goal which has been in the works for decades.

It was not too long ago that there were congressmen making Ayn Rand's books required reading for staff etc. and surely it has been on the reading list for most repubs. We have the acolyte Rand Paul as well.

An overlooked feature of the Rand philosophy is that there needs to be a class of elites to be in charge. It was not just free markets she was after but control of society by "superior" people. Republicans always deem themselves superior.

Hitler's Germany appeared pretty powerful in the 1930's but it was built on lies and the internals of the country were hollow. He had to conquer land for both ideological and financial purposes.

Russia is a neutered dog right now. Granted, they have nuclear weapons, but Putin knows that he would be wiped off the face of the Earth along with everyone else if he used them. Putin cannot even project power that much beyond his own borders. The United States can hit any place on the Earth with conventional military within hours.

Russia dreams of gaining influence beyond Russia, like what the Soviet Union had before Afghanistan and the inevitable end.

The dream for Conservatives is to have a hegemonic control of the entire world under a White Supremacist regime with all others in subservient roles.

That is Nazi Germany. Russia under Putin wants the same thing, but they cannot pull it off, which is why Putin wanted to manipulate Trump into doing it by proxy.

Won't work. The Nazi killed too many Russians, Jews and non-Jews. The Nazi destroyed Russian lands and infrastructure. The wingnuts here don't seem to know or care about history.
