Who knew about that 4th vaccine dose?!

Although I rarely watch CNN, I happened to tune in yesterday morning via the Pluto streaming channel and learned that the CDC had recommended a 4th vaccine for immune compromised people like Moi. The gist of the conversation on CNN was that the public was largely unaware of the CDC’s recommendation because the language concerning it is confusing.

Which explained the otherwise mysterious little red alert in my health company app related to an overdue Covid-19 vaccine. Made an appointment for next week and selected Moderna, even though my first three shots were Pfizer. Fingers crossed!

I was aware of that, which is why I was taken by surprise by the new CDC protocol. But still, there’s this:

“Dr. Nahman Ash, director of Israel's Health Ministry, said the research did not mean the fourth vaccine effort was a mistake. “It returns the level of antibodies to what it was at the beginning of the third booster. That has great importance, especially among the older population,” he told Channel 13 TV.”

We have 3 vaccines: Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson. Is there a 4th one in the works?

It's been 3 1/2 months since my third Moderna.

I'm thinking maybe later next month.

2 monoclonal antibodies given as preventative for immuno-compromised folks. Have been triple vax’ed (3 full Moderna doses) and tests show I did produce antibodies, so not sure how
I got so lucky to be given Evusheld, which is providing the body with antibodies. Was contacted by my oncologist and was the 2nd person they administered it to.

Feeling as protected now as one can be. Will remain careful but also comfortable going into stores now. This is huge for me!

It’s why I decided to call attention to the subject. News junky that I am, if I didn’t know about it I figured others might not either.

an extra shot for immunocompromise, etc., was one of the options to check. It wasn't my regular pharmacy in another state, so I took my prescription bottles of immunosuppressants with me but wasn't asked to show them.

4th shot. They had no knowledge of CDC guidance. My husband stood his ground and got two supervisors who ended up apologizing to him and he got his shot! So even they had no idea of new policy and hopefully will share it with rest of Kaiser.

The CDC appears to be advising that the first 3 shots for immunocompromised people is what is needed for initial vaccination and the 4th shot is the booster. His Doctor said the same thing to us.

I feel a wave of euphoria come over me each time I go in.

Do you know if they'll be passing out 2nd stage vaccine cards? It'd be nice if someone sold some cute accessories for carrying around the cards. Maybe a sort of oversized necklace carrier if that's not too silly?

Thanks for sharing that CDC info with us and making vaccines more available to the public.

This means that he got his first shot in August of 2020 and his booster at the end of July of 2021. He gave four vials of blood on Monday as part of the trial and then got a 4th Moderna booster that night.

My son has been reading up on COVID and the trials and is also in a study by Univ. of Texas where they have been doing antibody tests for the last two years. My son got me and my youngest child in that study and I went from an antibody level of 79.4 (on a 2500 scale) on Sept 2 to an antibody level of over 2500 on November 27 after getting a booster. I am going to get another antibody test in Feb. and will decide on a 4th shot (second booster) after that test
