My all time personal favorite phone banker
She’s petite, with white cotton-candy hair and naturally rosy cheeks. Her glasses are perched on the end of her nose. She reminds me for all the world of the grandmother who lived with us in my growing-up years, especially her voice. She’s not loud, not soft, but comfortably in between. And she is unfailingly polite to those she calls in the course of our phone bank.
So we were a bit startled this evening by a very rare moment in which she raised her voice. She’d been gently trying to persuade an undecided voter. After listening for a bit she let out a small exasperated sigh, followed by “Well, I’m pro-life, too. Good heavens, I have nine children!” He signed on.
