RW media claiming beating of gay Republican staffer was over politics

A friend posted a Daily Caller story about Kyle Wood, an openly gay staffer for a Republican legislature candidate of Wisconsin. So I googled his name, and most of the sources were the typical right wing mish mash of Daily Caller, Lonely Conservative, Breitbart, etc.

Wood told his story first to the Daily Caller:

Kyle Wood, a full-time volunteer working for GOP House candidate Chad Lee, was hospitalized for injuries suffered during what he said was an assault at his home.

Wood told The Daily Caller that vandalism preceding the assault, along with his attacker’s statements during the incident, suggested his sexual orientation and his politics each played a role.

“I was getting ready for work and there was a knock at the door,” Wood emailed The Daily Caller late Wednesday. “I opened it, and a guy wrapped a ligature around my neck, slammed my head into the doorway, and smashed my face into a mirror, telling me ‘You should have kept your (f*******)mouth shut.’”

Wood said his attacker’s reference to a warning likely pointed to graffiti he found painted on his car last week. The vandalism included the phrases “house trained republican faggot,” “traitor,” and “ur like a jew 4 hitler.”

Those slurs, he explained, were references to him being a gay Republican working to help Lee, a straight GOP candidate, defeat the openly gay Democrat Mark Pocan.

I found some local Wisconsin area media that referenced the daily caller story. However, a TV station in Madison, Wisc. reported: "This afternoon NBC15 tracked down Wood. He did not wish to be interviewed right now. He said he would like to speak with a lawyer before he does any more press."

Hmm. There was ANOTHER right-wing hysterical story about a teacher who allegedly injured a child while teaching a so-called "Islamic hand gesture" in which the child's mother, who originally alerted The Blaze to the story, decided to lawyer up before speaking to non right wing media. Wonder why.

The staffer says his car was tagged with graffiti like "ur a jew 4 hitler". If his car did get vandalized, wouldn't he have shared photos? Would some of his neighbors have noticed? At least I couldn't find any such photo. I smell some sort of manufacturing a "hateful violent liberals" story here; I guess that's after the previous attempt at doing so with a "story" (posted on DU) about the son of a Republican Wisc. state senator attacked over Romney lawn signs failed.

3. I also just remembered that woman in louisiana

who is now accused of making up a story of white racists burning her. Sadly, self righteous conservatives who dismiss hate crimes and other bigotry as "professional victimhood" feel vindicated now. Unless the target was on their side.
