the shot is fired and they run to safety next to (not through) a strategically placed bullet riddled gate to hide, except they're still out in the open, hunched down, anticipating the next shot that never comes...this is like a scene from that old James Coburn movie "What Did You Do In The War, Daddy?...ludicrous and sad
