Monument in Arlington, Massachusetts:
"Near this spot, Samuel Whittemore, then 80 years old, killed three British soldiers, April 19, 1775. He was shot, bayoneted, beaten and left for dead, but recovered and lived to be 98 years of age."

which at that time Arlington was called Menotomy. The British troops were returning from Concord, under constant fire from Minutemen. Some of the fiercest fighting of that day happened in Menotomy.

but up until the last year of his life he was strong and robust and very active. I guarantee he would have been on a plane to go over there and fight. He was Latvian and his family was destroyed by communism in WWII. He hated Putin with a purple passion.
And he was pretty good with a gun.

He belonged to Daugavas Vanagi (Hawks of Daugava), an organization for Latvian patriots and old soldiers.

in genealogy was an ancestor who commanded a ship during England's battle with the Spanish Armada. He was 80 years old at the time.
