Lets quit kidding ourselves, the only reason Obama isn't up by 20 is the fact that he's black.

If this election was truly about policy it wouldn't be close. Even the abortion issue wouldn't
be that much in play. Racists are connecting Obama with killing babies so in their minds
they have a real concept to drive their hatred. Obviously, its not about his economic policies!

3. Already noticed

Rmoney is a single issue candidate, he's white. I think we can safely assume that anyone who votes for Mitt does so because of that single issue. After all what other issue has he consistently pushed?

Further thought: expect any day now for Rmoney to tell us about his African ancestry.

4. just created a infograph about that. uploading to GD right now.

May piss some people off.. I don't care. In light of the AP story about 51% of Americans harboring bad feelings about blacks, it's very relevant.

6. Who's kidding themselves?

The GOP can barely hide their racism. In many cases they don't even bother.. Sununu and Palin yesterday come to mind...

No one is fooled.

8. Thus why every white Democratic candidate is up by 20 points

Is there racial animus? Of course. But it's not all about race. After all Bill Clinton didn't win by 20 points.

11. No, it's not. It's actually about 2-5 points difference

I just read a comprehensive article about it the other day. I'll try and find it.

It's more about the economy than anything else.

17. No, it wouldn't be anywhere close to 20 points.

That opinion just doesn't reflect the reality of the divided country we live in or economic toll of the last several years.

if there were, there would be NO Republican party ... at least, not the psycho-religious teahadists that dominate it today ...

22. Yes, it's the party of racists but it's just flat out

ridiculous to think that race accounts for 20 points. As with most complex things, there aren't any simplistic answers. It's a closely divided electorate. Religion plays a role. Issues like abortion play a role. The economy of the last few years plays a role.

By the way, if it's all racism, how do you account for the repulsive Alan West?

23. Because Allan West is "One of the good ones"... Come on, They love Cain, Rice, Strickland etc.

Gives them reason to think they are not racists. Even have a few "good friends".
I suggest you can be married to a black and still be a racist. Its all about conditioning which
starts the minute we are born into this country.

Each and every one of them are back for revenge this year. That right there is enough to keep this race tight.

However, I do not believe Obama would be ahead of Romney by 20 pts if Obama was white.

"Generic White Incumbent Democrat" would not have that kind of lead on Romney in my opinion.

35. Bill Clinton Won By Eight Percent

And he was running during the longest economic expansion in the history of the republic against a candidate every bit as weak as Willard Romney. The electorate is too polarized to produce the results you suggest.

President Obama will be reelected. Everything else is commentary...

more than Romney. The right hates Obama so much that they ignore their distaste of Romney!
This should be a no contest match.
