commercial bank? Just a title to fool the customers?

I wonder, though, who is killing the Generals. The Ukrainians? Fragging? It's a strange thing, the Russian military. Always has been.

(146,338 posts)secure communications equipment, but probably not enough of it to send to a "pushover" country like Ukraine. Bad mistake.
Even in the Soviet days, field units in remote places did not get the latest equipment or anything even close to it. The problem was that there wasn't enough of the latest gear to go around, so it went to headquarters units mainly, rather than into the field.
All "look/see" sort of stuff.
Don't ask me how I know that, though. I can't tell you.

What is the first thing that an invading army do? Knock out telecommunications systems.
Why didn't the generals know what was happening at the very start? See the point above.

(3,374 posts)British media outlet Mirror asserted "there is reportedly around 20 Russian generals leading the invasion - meaning a fifth have already died in three weeks."
Major General Sukhovetsky was the first Russian general to die and was reportedly killed by a sniper. The second general to die was Major General Gerasimov, who was killed outside Kharkiv, along with other senior officers. Then, General Kolesnikov, of the 29th Combined Arms Army, was killed in fighting only five days ago.
Pentagon estimates of total Russian soldiers taken out of the fight point to many more wounded, captured or missing, saying Tuesday that Ukraine and Russia each have lost about 10 percent of their combat power. The Russians have poured more than 150,000 troops across the border. Ukraines active-duty military is estimated to number about 200,000.
10% casualty rate of 150,000 is 15,000 Russian casualties. Hard to imagine that big of a number being hid from the Russian people for any measurable length of time.
