A hotel owner in Rapid City, South Dakota, is facing significant blowback for a social media post in which she said that Native Americans no longer would be welcome at her business.

begin to imagine. And unfortunately, most Americans DON'T "imagine" nor hear enough about it to register ongoing concern. So, maybe social media can help. I certainly hope so. I worked for several years with tribes in the four-corners area of the US (CO, UT, AZ, NM) and when presenting studies conducted there at national conferences outside the region and the challenges surrounding, I would frequently be met with dumbstruck looks--even among those who care about equity, justice and fighting racism.

Native Americans and their issues cannot be allowed to continue as a mere "after-thought."
