Fitzroy 'Bunny' Simpson, a founding member of the iconic singing group, The Mighty Diamonds, has died.
It's a double blow for the music industry following Tuesday night's murder of lead singer Donald 'Tabby' Shaw who was hit during a drive-by shooting on McKinley Crescent on St Andrew.
Simpson, who was ailing for some time, passed away this morning.

(210 posts)Unbelievably beautiful reggae people, such a loss. Many of us have been changed by a close encounter with transformative music. For me it was The Mighty Diamonds back in the 1970s. They were a gateway to Bob Marley and Bunny and others. Part of it was the realization that impoverished places can create great art -- the western world has no monopoly. I still love them.

I share your sadness. I listened to the Mighty Diamonds quite a bit back in my Hawaii days.
