You Tube and Yahoo are trying to shove RW propaganda down my throat....

I never click on anything from Fox or the Washington Examiner, or watch any videos from Ben Shapiro, but that doesn't stop Yahoo from populating half of my newsfeed with RW garbage, and YouTube populating its recommended videos with crap from Fox and Ben Shapiro (although in the case of YouTube it's a bit more balanced with videos from MSNBC and the Damage Report).

I thought these algorithms were supposed to look at what we watch and click on and decide what we might like?

subscriptions, On the other hand, I get only what interests me. You are a pretty visible Democrat, actively engaged in party politics, perhaps the right-wing avoids sending you their crap...lucky you.

I just click on the offending video and find the "dislike" button under the video. Then, they will not recommend that channel to you again.

So you get the more viewed videos from politics which more likely to be right wing.

I am a low-income, senior, white guy from a very Red area who watches only entertainment type videos on YouTube, but they keep recommending Jordan Peterson, FOXNews, Newsmax, Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk, and a bunch of other RW loonies. I never watch any of them, but they keep popping up in droves.

It is looking at my demographics rather than my viewing history. And yes, I dislike any video that is RW that I accidentally click on. With the yahoo news feed, it never seems to work. I only visit yahoo for my e-mail, so its more an annoyance there (and this fear that un-engaged people are getting bombarded by this rightwing shit) I mean seriously, how does a news feed justify treating Faux and Washington Examiner more prominently than the big 3 networks (ABC, NBC, and CBS)?

I watch videos that often critique Shapiro and other right wing figures. That, I think leads to the algorithm putting in content that discusses the topic (I.E. Cultural Marxism) but from the right wing perspective.

It is annoying, but pretty easy to spot. I just tell YouTube not to recommend the channel anymore.

In your case, cable news and partisanship.

It isn't there to show you things you'll like. It's there to show you things that'll spike your cortisol so you'll clicky. If you're consuming a lot of partisan political content, that's what you'll see.

My recommended list is Astronomy and History documentaries, ASMR videos, comedians, and movie stuff.

No right-wing content. Actually, no political content at all. Must be why I'm such a contented sort.
