So a high level & close GOP staffer to @GOPChairwoman was just arrested for pedophilia and his messages show he promoted the rape of babies. Yet, the @GOPChairwoman and @GOP wont even address it, condemn it, say its bad or anything. Thats the GOP. PedoCons.
Next level patriarchal hatred - they hate women and girls. Period. It is next level control from the far right. How any woman can vote for these Gilead under his eye theocratic extremists is something I will never understand.
Mark my words - they will be coming after birth control next. Now they are allowed to get away with this level of fuckery it is inevitable.

(46,703 posts)The Advent Health contract is several pages long and you have to agree to everything in it if you want to proceed in the pre-check that comes to you through your mobile phone. It has you agreeing to share your info with your clergy and their business partners, if you read it.
And, even though I have a copy of the contract to refer to a HIPPA group, it's such a tedious process to go through it to highlight the things that I find bothersome, I haven't had time to do it yet.
And though I received a copy from the receptionist, she didn't know what was in it and she had no idea how i could opt out, and still get care.
Something is very fishy here.

(2,429 posts)...exempt them from federal HIPAA laws.
Karma13612
(4,552 posts)Just because you give permission for them to share the details of your care, does not give them authority to use for anything other than health care, and administration of your plan, like for analyzing coverage, eligibility, dates of coverage, etc.
SOMEONE breached HIPAA for their own personal gain and to F with this womans legal life.
We need to go after that individual with equal force. They can look at logs of computer access, etc.
Fight fire with fire.

But, apparently, a health care worker can just share anything they want with a random third party?

(14,564 posts)these people are so blinded by the appeals to their lesser instincts, the appeals to hatred toward others, that they think they are not subject to this themselves.
There are a LOT of right wing women who are LOVING this. They just think that if they get into a situation it won't apply to them, meanwhile GET THOSE LIBERALS AND OTHERS!

(4,552 posts)Hubby and I watched the first two seasons and were going to start the 3rd, but it was just too toxic mentally. I saw more in Season one and Two than I care to remember. Its frightening to admit that there are women in this world actually living through it.
HandMaids Tale is like 1984 but specifically tailored to women.
As much as I hate the cold and snow and MAGA-infused environment of Northern New York, at least Canada is right next door. Now that the border is open, I can be in Canada in under an hour. And we have the Indian Reservation as well, for ways to get across if the US turned Gilead on us.
Horrible to think this way
I am glad I am in my late 60s, not sure I want to see the US devolve any further.

(14,529 posts)This was dystopian in chillingly real ways..they had those images of bodies strung up in the street. I have seen similar images in reports on totalitarian states.
Went straight back to the far more soothing Dr.Who ;-/. I'd take the cybermen and the daleks..hell even the weeping angels over Gilead. If you are not a Dr.Who fan, those are just their rather cartoonish villains..whereas the Gilead is super creepy. Eh one is at the end of the day a kid's show (in spite of its popularity with people like me) and the other is dystopian satire blurring boundaries with reality.
I don't know though..the whole world seems to be going nuts..Canada seems to have their nutcases too.. most places seem to be overrun by lunatics these days..
Karma13612
(4,552 posts)But, I would still take Canada over the US if things get much worse. I have no claim to emigrate there, but I would sneak in on holiday and just wait for them to deport me. I would claim political and humanitarian reasons. In Gilead land, At my age, I would wind up on one of the farms where they were worked to the bone, not fed will, beaten, and left to die from injury or disease.
On to brighter notes, spring is just around the corner, and weve seen our first fat-bellied robin, and a healthy Blue Jay in the back yard. Too bad the chipmunks are such thieves. Otherwise we would put out bird feeders. 🙁

(5,969 posts)More info is needed but I also highly doubt that this is about the morning after pill. Further, the claim that an employee of the hospital did it for the 10k seems fabricated and according to what other DUers posted, that's not how that law works.
We really should stop trusting everything that comes from Twitter. So often, only misinformation is spread.

Transwomen especially will be a high target for death. But if they want to kill me, they'll be coming with me to hell.

(2,605 posts)It is suspected they were concerned that they might be implicated under the new law if they didnt lot of unknowns except this, the GOP wants to outlaw ALL abortions and outlaw CONTRACEPTION, Even between married couples.
I knew this back in the college days - 40 years ago.

(4,552 posts)This is already happening and needs to be a dominant subject this fall.
It needs to be questioned at every debate and at every town hall. We will give no quarter on this subject.
Push your representatives into a corner on this subject at every chance.
Remember when we all said they would never be able to ban abortion!!!
The question is: Why do republicans want to ban birth control? Ask it.

(6,805 posts)What if we formed a church where the core tenets included modern health care practices? Then our adherents could claim a religious right to modern birth control and abortion.
I think this is the way to go.
I'll volunteer to be a priest.
We could cherry pick some stuff from ancient religious texts and writings to write some creeds.
I'm not kidding around here.

(4,552 posts)I have never understood the Catholic church and their birth control policy. First off no one obeys the rule.
Secondly the church does allow the rhythm method. Which is birth control. If Catholics are allowed to use science to prevent pregnancy using the rhythm method why not use science to put on a rain coat.
Riddle me that bat man.

(4,394 posts)"Consistent with our tenets that call for bodily autonomy and acting in accordance with best scientific evidence, The Satanic Temple religiously objects to many of the restrictions that states have enacted that interfere with abortion access as well as other related issues that affect members' religious rights. TST is taking many steps to address reproductive laws that violate our religious conscience by inflicting guilt and shame in one's decision and being inconsistent with necessary health and safety standards."
