(10,260 posts)I live here sadly as a transgender woman. This state is actively trying to get me killed. But reasons I carry a gun nowadays. If I can't leave yet, I'll do what I can to survive until I can leave.

(9,999 posts)I probably could live in OH though, because the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame is there, and so is Cedar Point.

(25,777 posts)every state in the Union has rural districts without outside contact. They vote Republican. They don't know why.

(2,653 posts)I also wouldn't want to live anywhere south of the southern Oregon border. Basically, I don't want to live anywhere from the Southwest through Southeast parts of the country, nor in the Midwest. I hate hot weather and fundy fanatics equally.

(5 posts)My wife and I moved out of Florida a month ago. The house we bought just 5 years ago had more than doubled in value so we decided to capitalize on this run up.
Does that mean we're smart, I don't know. But I do know we were fed up with the corruption and lunacy that is Florida politics. Hopefully a couple of northerners that make up the massive influx of peeps moving into the state take our place on the voter rolls.

(1,962 posts)However, I did go ahead and place my vote for Texas, as it sounds more and more like out of all the red states, Texas wants to do the most to hurt LGBTQ's and women, and Abbully and Poxton have made it clear that laws and court orders don't mean shit to them.
But right now, it's not good to be in any red state unless you're white, straight, cisgender, male and conservative.

(67,105 posts)I'm white, straight, cisgender, and male. But because I'm a liberal, red-states are a no-go.

(1,962 posts)No red state is safe for those the QOP don't approve of. The only "difference" at this point is the rate at which they're descending straight into hell. While it looks like Texas or Florida are favorites right now to "win" the race to the bottom, there's no question that every QOP-controlled state is participating in that race.

(47,285 posts)What we need to do is reach out to each other in these states and hold our ground.
Sure, you all go ahead an run. That will only make the situation worse for everyone.

(89 posts)And, I don't think politics is the main reason people live where they do, smart or not.
It's pretty insulting to anyone in a "red" state.
