(455 posts)...Spectrum has an option where you
can pick 15 channels. And my wfe did
exactly that. She dumped faux, unfortunately
also comedy, espn, and a few more of my
favorites. Should have been more specific.

(54,770 posts)not going to stop or impede them. Rubes need something to keep them occupied.
If you dont watch included stations, that still dings them a little. If option were available, Id exclude FOX and a bunch of others.

(3,740 posts)to discuss some changes to our cable selections etc. I told my husband I was going to complain about having to "pay for" Fox News in order to get basic cable. I know it is part of the package, along with CNN and MSNBC, ABC, CBS etc. But I want to express my annoyance at having a pro Putin, anti democracy, propaganda arm of Trump in the basic package.

(24,317 posts)religious channels and shopping channels. And probably many others if I ever looked at them. The fact is, I could get by with probably less than ten or 15 channels. That would cover over 90% of my viewing.

(1,670 posts)From the cable billing perspective they're the most expensive "news" service, and you subsidize them with your cable bill. Talk about socialism.
ThoughtCriminal
(14,048 posts)I don't care if they switch it with ESPN-7 (The food-eating contest channel), the scammiest shopping channel on cable, or a North Korean music video channel.

(42,752 posts)From the cable operator perspective, your choice is to subscribe or not. They aren't going to give you the option of not getting Fox News as part of the programming package that most subscribers receive because (i) they have no incentive to do so and (ii) the contracts that cable and satellite providers enter into with Fox News don't allow it.

(1,851 posts)I had Sling TV, because I was able to get MSNBC without a dime going to Fox. After a few months they added Fox ... and I dropped them like a hot rock.

(8,923 posts)for free as long as it is on the basic package.
It's going to be hard to have something that the cable company is pocketing 100% of the money, to remove from their basic lineup.
Ever notice business establishments, like McDonald's, have them times to Fox?
CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, BBC, Free Speech TV ... are all on tiered packages and not free.
I guess it's worth a try.

(36,890 posts)Freedom of the press may be guaranteed in the Constitution. But a plurality of Republicans want to give President Trump the authority to close down certain news outlets, according to a new public opinion survey conducted by Ipsos and provided exclusively to The Daily Beast.
So that 43% of republicans would approve a democrat shutting down Fox news?

(15,552 posts)Don't miss it at all and would never go back to it. I have a smart TV and the only thing I pay for is Netflix and PBS passport. I will never be able to watch all the stuff that is on my smart TV.
I can actually say that I've never watched FOX news once in my life, unless maybe it was a local FOX news way back when they were new, but I had them pegged for propaganda almost immediately so refused to ever have it on.
