Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis slams Biden administration over appealing to reimpose mask mandate on

on planes: 'Totally outrageous'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis criticized the Biden administration on Thursday over its plans to appeal a judge's ruling that stuck down mask mandates on airplanes and other public transit.

"There should be no mandates, period. None," DeSantis said at an event in Destin, Florida.

Florida was among several states that sued the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention over its mask mandate on public transit. The rule applied to buses, trains, and airplanes, but on Monday a federal judge appointed by then-President Donald Trump struck it down, saying the CDC didn't have the authority to impose it.

After the ruling, airlines quickly moved to making masks optional, as did Uber and Lyft. Several videos circulated on social media showing relieved passengers and flight attendants shedding their masks, a trend DeSantis brought attention to on Thursday.

No what's outrageous is dumbasses like you and the unqualified federal judge who think they know better than people with a background in epidemiology how to fight the worst pandemic in 100 years.

2. The point of the appeal isn't masks; the mandate was set to expire in May anyhow.

The point is to try to establish that the CDC does have the power to act in ways necessary to further public health. The unqualified Trump appointee who struck down the rule is one of the Federalist Society stooges who are trying to drown the government in a bathtub and destroy the so-called administrative state, public health and safety be damned.

People don't want them anymore, and this back and forth over requiring them and then not is going to hurt politically.

10. The focus isn't on any particular mandate but on the authority of the CDC

or other federal agencies to take action in case of a public health or safety emergency. That's the issue and it's a big one.

6. So he would never want a mandate for masks? How about if the Black Plague was spreading?

The CDC has to weigh these things and make educated decisions. Not just allow knee jerk anti-Gov BS for every single health decision.

He had appointed JUdge Mizelle's husband, a Kushner employee, to the board that selects and nominates district judges.

I think what DeSantis is most upset about is having Judge Mizelle's nitwit order subjected to scrutiny by experienced, competent judges.
