Top secret Russian defense plant on fire

A major fire has erupted at a top secret Russian defence research plant, leaving seven people dead and at least 30 injured.

Four military scientists were reportedly forced to jump out of windows from the burning institute in Tver which develops new space and weapons systems.

The blaze was at the Second Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.

Initial reports said the fire started on the second floor of the top secret research institute.

The cause was not clear but there were reports of “poisonous bluish-black smoke” and dramatic photos show thick plumes of dark smoke rising from the flames.

to do with it. Sounds like just the kind of targets we'd go after. Leaving schools and hospitals alone.

We know cyber sabotage can cause fires at facilities, but whether that could be possible or ridiculously unlikely here I have no idea. Just throwing it out.

A long way from the Ukraine border. Seems like it might be sabotage because of the 2. But not by Ukraine because it's so far away.

if we and Ukraine don't have operatives on the ground to do these kinds of operations, I want to know why.

From my impressions when I was there, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it were something as banal as someone smoking in a no smoking area, and tossing his glowing butt where it ended up doing the most possible damage.

disasters popping up seem to have very banal causes at base. Maybe tRump wasn't reelected because someone neglected to step up their bot operations toward election day.

She said the students were rousted for their classes every morning, and the only acceptable excuse for not getting up was yelling out "Я перепил!" which basically means, "I drank too much!" For THAT, they had every bit of sympathy and understanding a Russian could muster.

A quote from film, Hunt for Red October. Kinda fun watching the bad guys squirm sometimes.
