DOJ is really going after Hunter Biden and no, this isn't just John Durham. DOJ is putting a lot of effort into investigating Hunter.
In recent weeks, it has become clear that the federal investigation into Hunter Biden's business practices is broad. According to multiple sources, the probe is exploring whether Hunter Biden and his associates violated tax, money laundering and foreign lobbying laws.
The New York Times reported last month that Hunter Biden has "paid off a significant tax liability."
The case is being led by the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, David C. Weiss. Weiss was appointed by former President Trump and kept on by the Biden administration, in part because they did not want to appear to be interfering in the probe by replacing him with a Democratic appointee.
The White House has referred questions to the Department of Justice.

(21,359 posts)sorry for the delay.
At least Merrick Garland is doing something, even leaking what he is doing, imagine that.
Did I ever say that Mike Lee wanted Trump to have Garland replace Comey at the FBI?

(10,053 posts)He has been "investigating" since 2018, no doubt at Trump's request. He is the one leaking and I am very skeptical of his motives and his evidence.

(32,023 posts)It is not a "DA in Delaware". It is a US Attorney assigned to Delaware and under the supervision of Garland.

(4,098 posts)But who cares. They weren't going to vote for Biden anyway.
They could at least strip him of his staff and put his desk in the Basement like they did Milton in Office Space.

The other allegations are 100% MAGA made up BS and the DOJ has no business involved in seeing again, none of the allegations are illega.

(6,974 posts)Because the so-called "smoking gun Laptop story" has completely fallen apart, and IMHO cannot stay alive (unless the Liberal media that's NOT liberal, and the Reich-winged, lying ny post want to keep rolling with it which it probably will).
Even the laptop repairman, a die-hard tRump supporter said in a recent interview that the Hunter Biden laptop had to be tampered with, and who knows what was put onto or taken off of the laptop or who got a hold of the original hard drive or words to that effect. That laptop has been in the hands of the likes of Guliani, Bannon and Gaetz, who said that HE had 'the' Hunter Biden's laptop hard drive, and proceeded to give it to Gerald Nadler. Look at the cast of despot, treasonous, putin-loving assets and outright lying GQP'ers who had that laptop and passed it around like candy that we know of. Like I said, that laptop story has fallen apart unless the mostly so-called liberal media that isn't liberal at all wants to keep trying to make that dead dog known as Hunter Biden's laptop hunt.

(21,359 posts)Republicans know how to control the narrative. They had 33 hearings for Benghazi, boy this reminds me of Benghazi.

(21,359 posts)the MSM is owned and managed by the right which makes it all the more imperative that Democrats work harder to change it.
Why doesn't Chuck Schumer have the Senate oversight committee investigate Mike Lee? Do you think the MSM would cover that?
It pisses me off. Republicans have no fear. They held 33 hearings and Hillary Clinton testified in public for 11 hours over a political stunt.

(21,359 posts)a judge gave them a couple hundred after a long fight. The committee has subpoenaed 36,000 more emails and Eastman is claiming executive privilege. That means a judge is going to have to go over all of those emails before releasing them.
Just imagine how much easier that could have been had DOJ been the one requesting those emails.
We allow 2 prosecutors to investigate Hunter Biden. John Durham was supposed to investigate the Trump/Russia investigation, but it sure looks to me that Durham's investigation has expanded beyond that. Now we have another prosecutor investigating Hunter while an insurrection against our democracy is going on, and Eastman is working to get Arizona and Wisconsin to decertify the 2020 election.

(10,053 posts)possible Russia related crimes. He is meeting that objective but is making a fool of himself in the process.

The DOJ would face the same fight. Also, once the case is settled, both can use the emails so no point in bringing the case twice.

Durham is not investigating Hunter... Do you have a link to show he is? PSA... Mentioning him in a filing is not an investigation, it's red meat for the base. But please, support you claim his investigation has expanded.

(21,756 posts)You are linking to an article that has zero actions being taken since Biden became President except one... The tax issue that has been resolved. So... How is that 'hard'?
The article also explains that this lone guy who started in at least 2019 has found nothing... No arrests, no indictments, no evidence, no nothing in three years... But the DOJ is going 'hard'.
Yet... You complain on a daily basis that the DOJ is being soft on 1/6... Only nearly 800 arrests of grunts, 12 leaders for seditious conspiracy, 2 seditious conspirators flipped, Alex Jones begging to flip and a 7th 1/6 Grand Jury that is going after TFG's inner circle.
Like I said... You have a very fluid definition of 'hard'.

This is a district-level investigation by a Trump appointee. This is not Merrick Garland. US Attorneys are technically under the DOJ, but saying the DOJ is investigating Hunter Biden, while technically true, it is misleading.

(11,934 posts)President Biden was quite clear during the debates when this came up
1) Hunter has not broken any laws
2) The two have them have never spoken to each other regarding Hunter's overseas business dealings

(94,594 posts)Let's be blunt: there's no evidence that President Biden has used his influence on Hunter's behalf. But there is a track record of sons/brothers/etc. using their proximity to the President for their own economic gain, and if DOJ is investigating, they must think there's something to investigate.
