Meet Phoenix Ghost, the US Air Forces new drone designed for Ukraines war with Russia
"The Phoenix Ghost is similar to the Switchblade unmanned systems previously delivered to Ukraine, the official said, in that it is a one way drone that is clearly designed to give a punch to a number of different types of targets.
This likely means that Phoenix Ghost is a low-cost, single-use suicide drone that behaves like a loitering munition flying around an airspace before ramming itself into a target."

Makes good sense.

To design/develop and release into battle so quickly. That is impressive. Design what you need to win!

(38,317 posts)6. It was an existing weapon.
Modifying it for Ukraine probably means they took out some of the "top-secret" electronics, which probably has no effect in this war since the Russian military doesn't seem to be all that sophisticated, and has been caught out using ordinary Chinese and Japanese consumer electronics in their operations -- things like Canon cameras in their drones and Baofeng radios in their communications.
The engineers and scientists designing Russian military equipment are sophisticated, but apparently their weapon systems don't survive the corruption and neglect that permeates ordinary Russian society.
