Big get for the Jan. 6 committee: Donald Trump Jr., the son of the former president, is expected to meet with the Jan. 6 committee in the coming weeks, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

Crucial phone call: Trump Jr. had been present for a meeting with the former president, along with top aides and other Trump family members, on the morning of Jan. 6. It was scheduled just before Trump called then-Vice President Mike Pence to pressure him to overturn the election. The select panel is not known to have issued a subpoena for Trump Jr.

Texts: The select panel has revealed texts sent from Trump Jr. to then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows on Jan. 6, urging his father to do more to intervene and stop the violence.

“He’s got to condemn this [shit] Asap. The Capitol Police tweet is not enough,” Trump Jr. texted. The messages were part of a cache turned over by Meadows to the select panel before a tentative cooperation agreement fell apart.
