GQP lawmakers were deeply involved in Trump plans to overturn election, new evidence suggests

Deposition excerpts filed by the Jan 6. select committee underscore the expansive cast of elected Republicans who had enlisted themselves in Trump’s effort to cling to power.

Republican members of Congress were heavily involved in calls and meetings with former President Donald Trump and his top aides as they devised a strategy to overturn the election in December 2020, according to new evidence filed in federal court late Friday.

Deposition excerpts filed by the Jan 6. select committee — part of an effort to force former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to appear for an interview — suggest that some of Trump’s top allies in Congress were frequently present in meetings where a handful of strategies to prevent Joe Biden from taking office were discussed, including efforts to replace the leadership of the Justice Department with figures who would sow doubts about the legitimacy of the election.

Lawmakers who attended meetings, in person or by phone, included Reps. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and numerous members of the House Freedom Caucus, according to Cassidy Hutchinson, an aide to Meadows who provided key testimony about the conversations and meetings Meadows had in December 2020.

They can't wait much longer, what with elections coming up in November.

Does this mean we'll be seeing Gym Jordan walking the halls of Congress again? He's been pretty darned scarce the last few months.

There are rumors that she was the one who leaked the McCarthy phone call so that she would be the lead dog to become Speaker.

when former politicians are not being investigated?

Day 129 since the Mark Meadows criminal referral. Oh and how is his voter fraud investigation going?

I guess we just need to GOTV so that Democrats can control Congress to hold people accountable. Do I need the sarcasm thingy?

It was obvious by the way the said nothing about it. They participated in an attempt to overthrow a Federal Election. call it what you want - treason. A coup. Insurrection. They should all be in jail awaiting trial right now. When they betrayed America, they all lost their congressional immunity, and there is plenty of evidence already that they did..
