The hands gripping the table ... maybe he's hiding a knife or a gun in case somebody tries to jump him?

(14,627 posts)ejector seat for Shoigu. Putin is like Dr. Evil, but instead of pitching bad news-bearing underlings into a fiery dungeon, theyre launched out of the fourth floor window.

(6,593 posts)His right arm was bent at the elbow (like it is in the above picture) and his hand formed a 'thumbs-up' gesture. What's weird is that his hand shook back and forth quite violently, turning his extended thumb into a windshield wiper.
When the person entered though, Pooty stepped forward and extended his right arm for a handshake - and from what I could see, his outstretched arm did not shake. He eased right into a normal hand shake. So maybe he needs to control the hand only when his elbow is bent?
Very odd.

(9,155 posts)Steroids, like prednisone, can cause tremors. They can also cause your face to puff up.
My guess is that he is being treated for something with steroid injections, but who knows what that is.

(6,395 posts)He's usually very animated at meetings. I have that posture when my back goes out again. And he's also tapping his foot while Shoigu talks, as if he just wants to get this over with. And this is the first time in awhile where he is up close to others, Shoigu probably already knows something.
And what everyone here is missing, a couple of years ago they completely changed how and who leads Russia, making them less susceptible to outside interference and keeping more of the status quo. But it doesn't apply until once Putin is gone.
I'll say it again, it makes no sense that they went to war with Ukraine. Nordstream 2 was about to be brought on board, Zelensky was in the low 20's in popularity (hell, he was in the Panama Papers), etc. In 10 years, Ukraine would probably have been brought back into orbit or fallen to civil war. If he knows he's a goner, then it makes sense Putin would do this. He gets all of the repercussions, good and bad, and whoever replaces him will be able to mend the ties as he will seem like a breath of fresh air.
