LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. As Walt Disney World remains embattled over Gov. Ron DeSantis redistricting, a Texas county judge is hoping to lure the company away from Central Florida to the Houston area.
In a letter dated Thursday, which George pens directly to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Fort Bend County Judge KP George touts its diversity, growth, high graduation rate, strategic location and affordability as an ideal place to relocate.
While you, your company, employees and diverse fans face authoritarian, anti-business and culture war attacks from extremists in Florida, we in Fort Bend are more than ready to welcome the Disney family with thousands of good paying jobs and billions of dollars of investments, George writes.
Fort Bend County includes several cities, including parts of Houston.

(7,447 posts)1. You need good weather, that probably means the South.
2. You need to be relatively close to the East Coast.
3. The entire Gulf is bright red and no better than Florida so that's out. GA is the same so that's out. SC ditto.
So you really only have 2 choices...NC which is at best purple, or somewhere in the Caribbean. Latter too hard to get to, former you have weather concerns.
There's nowhere for Disney to go.

(7,447 posts)geographically not so much. The point is to be close to the Eastern half of the US.
I'm in SA, went to law school in Houston, part of college in El Paso and was stationed at Hood.
Regardless, whether Texas is South or Southwest, doesn't matter as it violates 2 and 3. There's no point moving from Florida to Texas.

(9,900 posts)They'll screen women for signs of pregnancy, and men for the absence of "loyalty". Texas tolerant? Like Disney is that dumb. If they sue, Disney can conceivably sue for up to a billion dollars.

(9,118 posts)as stupid, vicious, and authoritarian-minded as its Florida counterpart. Until the Texas Republican Party is trounced in several statewide elections several times running, Texas is no safe haven for the happiest place on Earth.
