AOC calls Jan. 6 a 'trial run'; warns that a GOP-controlled House could refuse to legitimize

presidential election

At a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., called Jan. 6, 2021, a “trial run” and warned that if Republicans take control of the House of Representatives in the midterm elections, they will have the power to not legitimize the results of the next presidential election.

Video Transcript
- And then if we lose the House, this is no joke, January 6 was a trial run. And a lot of people don't seem to understand that, it was a trial run. And they're going to come back. And they win the House, here's the thing, the technicality of what happened on January 6. The only reason it wasn't worse was because Democrats had the House and they didn't have the votes in the House. If they take the House, then they have the votes to not authorize and legitimize the presidential election whatever the results are. And so this is very serious.

And, wouldn’t you know, massive sacrifice and long term inconvenience will be required to salvage a livable environment. And, to a lesser degree, that same sacrifice and inconvenience is required to protect our Democracy.

As others have said, they have just been testing the waters. They've wormed their messages into many RW-leaning groups (evangelicals, libertarians, white/old/dumb) that they can.

They have taken over a huge portion of the media airwaves (cable, RW radio) and their targets don't listen to any other outlets.

Their base is not interested in discussing pros and cons. They have innate rage stoked by 30+ years of unrelenting RW bullshit. They are armed and couldn't care about decency. They are promised a place somewhere out there by their ministers and purveyors. They are very similar to ISIS and the Taliban.

Of course, when this all plays out, the Harvard/Yale leaders of the coup against the US will need to dispose of these deplorables. Putin will be happy to help.

economic issues trump for those who aren't already motivated by other issues (choice, "socialism," what have you).

As long as inflation is high, it will take a very big thing to shake folks out of reflexively voting out the party in power.

(Roe could be that big thing for example).
