It's hard to miss the tanks -- or the rhetoric -- as Russia prepares for Victory Day

My report on the build-up to Victory Day in Moscow, escalating rhetoric & fear. “Do you really expect me to stand here and talk to you about what I think?” said a woman dressed all in black, as the tanks rolled off into the Moscow night.
"Seriously?”

You could feel the rumble of the tanks before you saw them. It was almost midnight in Moscow as a long convoy of military hardware rolled through the centre of the city, across Tverskaya Street, a short distance from the Kremlin, and past a bronze statue of Mikhail Kalashnikov, the inventor of the AK-47 assault rifle.

With just over two weeks until President Putin oversees a huge Victory Day military parade in Red Square, Russia’s armed forces are staging night-time rehearsals. This week dozens of armoured vehicles, Buk missile launchers and self-propelled artillery pieces moved across the Russian capital as police locked down central streets and small crowds of onlookers gathered along the miles-long route.

Near Moscow, fighter jets have been practising flyovers in the shape of a gigantic Z — the symbol of what the Kremlin calls its “special military operation” in Ukraine.

An Ilyushin Il-80 aircraft, known as the “doomsday plane”, is also set to fly over the city during the May 9 parade. The gigantic plane, which can fly for several days without refuelling, is designed to be used as an airborne command centre during a nuclear war. Putin this week hailed the successful test launch of a new intercontinental ballistic missile called the Sarmat, which he claimed could overcome any missile defence system in the world.

Pictured are not tanks, but self-propelled artillery.

Self-propelled artillery pieces almost always have larger guns and a larger superstructure than tanks.

Thinner armor too, I believe, as they’re not intended to engage other armor in combat, but to maneuver in the rear, hitting enemy positions at longer range than a tanks weaponry. Or, of course in (r)ussia’s case, hitting civilian men women and children.

So let him have his stupid parade, I don't give a rat's ass.

Remember how Chump wanted to have his military parades EVERY 4th of July? Now we know where he got that idea.

Little pricks have to have big parades.

I'm beginning to think if Zelenskyy paints a cartoon tunnel on the south coast, Putin (super-genius) will roll his armor right through it, over the cliff and into the Black Sea.
