So...let's see if I understand what DeSantis did correctly...

Governor DeSantis' government passed a thoroughly repugnant anti-LGBT law.

Disney said the law was an atrocity.

So, to punish Disney Governor DeSantis cut Disney's taxes by $163 million a year and forced the taxpayers in the counties Walt Disney World is in to shoulder about $2 billion in Disney's debt.

I would ask just exactly what in the holy fuck is wrong with Ron DeSantis, but that's inexplicable.

Gov. Ron DeSantis clears a way to revoke Disney’s special district in Florida.

The Florida Senate approved a move to end Disney World’s self-governing privileges starting next year.

Disney’s special zone is called the Reedy Creek Improvement District and gives the company considerable control over the planning and permitting process for construction on its 25,000-acre property, including road building. Reedy Creek also levies taxes on Disney to pay for the resort’s own fire and medical response battalions, among other services. Disney World even generates some of its own electricity through Reedy Creek.

The elimination of Reedy Creek would require the two counties that contain Disney World to step in and provide the services, which would probably lead to increased taxes for residents, according to James C. Clark, a professor at the University of Central Florida. Disney could apply to re-establish the district if it is eliminated.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The district essentially operated as a fiefdom, and Disney lost sole control in determining planning, permits, zoning and building (including road building) for the area.

I think Disney was fine with paying the costs. What it really wants is autonomy and control.

I think Floridians were fine with Disney having that control as long as it was footing the bill.

Now the only one happy is DeSantis.

then he can say that activist judges are in violation of their freedumbs. He'll get all kinds of mileage on that then the whole thing will go away and he will play victim. His fans will adore him for trying. They will all swear they will never set foot on a Disney property again even though most of them can't afford it anyway because they spent all their money on meth and ammo.

Remember when all the wingnuts swore they would boycott the NFL and MLB and thought they would put them out of business? How did that one go?
