Roger Stonne to be senior strategic sleezebag for the new Ontario Party,

an upstart GOP provincial party trying to paint Trudeau as authoritarian and Doug Ford as leftist. This may sink Doug Ford's Conservatives by splitting the vote in this September's Ontario Provincial election but may be a toehold of the GOP issues in Canada (whose wedge issues have been tried before and failed in Canada).

I post it in GD because I'm asking if you have any advice.

Being in power makes parties complacent with incumbency and power. They forget how to define their own issues. Educating voters must be a constant task.

Federal Conservatives want to destroy it because our taxi drivers end up as informed as anyone after listening to it for a few years. And new immigrants in the suburbs of Toronto were like "fuck that shit" when the Conservative leader was speaking out of both sides of his mouth during last fall's election. People get up to speed with real news. The right tried Fox News North Sun TV a decade ago but it failed.

And it's all very humbling. I consider myself to be informed, even astute on matters of ideology if light on strategy. But confronted with the opinions of actual people, unaware of politics and economics, I am surprised and baffled. The masses are easily led, and I see through all the lies that voters miss. So I'm not much use in that regard. No substitute for voter outreach by parties with their own issues. To give your vote away based on the lies told in mass media is political suicide. Get in the minds of the people and tell them what is actually happening. Make them confront reality.
