OK. so...
...Musk sends out a tweet saying "We need more love, less hate on Twitter."
So I replied and said that wouldn't happen if he reinstated Trump, that he is incapable of "less hate, more love," and that if he came back and his followers flocked after him, Twitter would be happy hour at the skinhead bar.
So Musk reported me for "hate speech."
And Twitter gave me the option of being banned...period...OR deleting my tweet as "an admission of guilt," followed by a period of 7 days in the penalty box, where i can read tweets, send private messages to my followers, and nothing else.
This is what "free speech" looks like, Elon Musk style.

(7,541 posts)So there's your current example of him calling the shots and exhibiting that he only believes in absolute free speech for himself. But I'm sure you can come up with another irrelevant excuse to explain your hero's hypocrisy.

(18,837 posts)I reply to Jordan, Boebert, Gaetz, Graham, Greene ALL THE TIME.
Nothing.
One reply to Musk and I'm in jail for a week.
As I said above, no...he's not in charge yet...but this is the writing on the wall for when he is, I'd say.

(7,541 posts)Unless you say something he doesn't like. Just what we need, a total hypocrite, egomaniac, amoral POS in charge of one of the largest media platforms in the world.

(13,907 posts)to reinstate TFG because he is the real president and the second coming of Christ? I bet there are. Also, it seems to me that Musk has come eye to eye with the problem of distinguishing between "hate" speech and simple criticism.

(18,837 posts)I'm not saying he did it as CEO of Twitter.
I'm saying that he reported me for "hate speech" and I got sent to Twitter Jail. I'm saying it is a PREVIEW of when he DOES take charge.

(12,286 posts)They have bots skimming all tweets for key words which trigger suspensions.
Possibly reviewed by a live human.
But most likely not.
The entire flood of tweets is beyond the ability of an army of humans to police.
It is all automated.
I doubt Musk nor anyone else reported it.

And you DO know that Musk has no control whatsoever over Twitter right now, right?

(6,232 posts).....ability to deny tweets on their official accounts as MTG did over and over during her court hearing last week.
I think by definition Congresspeople need to be held completely responsible for ALL tweets posted on their OFFICIAL Twitter account.
NO DENYING RESPONSIBILITY by saying "I don't know who posted that."

Sympthsical
(9,165 posts)What likely happened is that a lot of people are reading his tweets and replies, and various political types are reporting whomever they don't like.
This is the kind of censorship people claim they want to keep, so I don't get why the complaining. People get suspended/banned for a lot less every day. It just depends if you can get a large enough group together to start spamming reports against targets.

It seems strange they would include the identity of the person(s) that reported a tweet in their message to whomever was alerted on.

(3,370 posts)Anyone can report any tweet they see.
MAGA folks do a lot of mass reporting and brigade people. Any little comment that doesn't agree with their worldview is reported. And Twitter's AI isn't great it parsing through actual bad content. You can say, "I don't like white bread," and it'll get removed. 🙄

Until the deal closes, which could take up to six months, Agrawal said, [Twitter] will continue making decisions as we always have, guided by the principles weve had, which doesnt mean things wont change. Things have been changing. Ive been in this role for four months, Agrawal explained. Once the deal closes, different decisions might be made. For us to gain insight into that, well be finding a way to have Elon talk with all of you at the soonest possible opportunity, he said.

(3,370 posts)You can block anyone from seeing your account - just like putting someone on ignore here on DU. The person you block can no longer see your account, tweets, replies, etc. Now, that is done by individual account, not IP. So, if someone blocks you, you can just create a new account and see their content.
Musk isn't banning anyone from Twitter outright, just blocking their accounts from seeing his.

(3,370 posts)Anyone can report any tweet they see. Twitter doesn't tell you who made the reports. RWers are out there brigading dems - mass reporting tweets and accounts. Twitter's algorithm is ridiculous and innocuous tweets are removed repeatedly. My one and only reported tweet came when I said, "the Cowboys suck." Hate speech, apparently.
Is there an option to ask for a review of the decision? Facebook allows that - it usually triggers a human to review it - but I'm unsure if Twitter allows the same.
Has Musk blocked you, yet? That's the badge of honor.

(34,491 posts)Twitter suspended me for typing "On election day, republicans need to be kicked to the curb" with "kicked" being the code word. The formula that tags certain words is ridiculous. I was suspended for a week and apparently you only get 1 or 2 warnings before you get permanently suspended. Which is what happened when I suggested someone should slap Howard Stern. As if a nobody like me with only a few hundred followers would stalk HS and slap him. They should give you the option to delete the tweet. Ridiculous!

(982 posts)I've never had a twitter account and never will. Twitter is littered with self indulgent, almost famous people that feed their ego by the number of followers they have. It's a breeding ground for influencer wannabe's. It's the TicToc of word salad.
