No idea.

(3,667 posts)My gas bill for the 9 day car rental could be more than the car rental cost with full insurance. We will see.

(54,502 posts)You shouldn't be needing to drive any huge distances.

(3,667 posts)We went south to a small town on the coast the east to another but had to do a n almost complete backtrack. Then we go to near the east end before heading back to the car drop off in Chania. Taking 9 days.
Rental with insurance is only 150. gas is 2.28/L. It could be close.

(54,502 posts)Only the west--Chania, then the Sa Maria Gorge and Paleochora, and then back up to Heraklion. We only had a few days. We took buses, never rented a car. It was 1981, and we didn't have much money. But my wife remembered some places from a previous visit, and the food was wonderful. The beaches were marred with tar deposits from passing ships, so that part was less than agreeable. Maybe they have cleaned that up in the meantime?

(3,667 posts)I was stationed east of Heraklion 1975-77. USAF station, Iraklion. Closed down in 1992. So I haven't seen much of the west end. This trip was with cyclists for the first 10 days. Now we are doing the south coast.

(3,667 posts)The car rental, turned out to be a FiAT Tipo Cross. was with full insurance for 9 days was Euro 159.
Fuel for the driving turned out to be Euro 135.00. Cost of gas when I topped up to return the car was E 2.248 per liter.

(206,737 posts)With my grocery card at Sunoco. And it's gone up 9-cents-a-gallon since Thursday. At least my mid-sized car takes regular and not diesel - which is $6.36-$6.49-per-gallon tonight.

(206,737 posts)I told him that I remember the time that my cousin gave me a ride back to college. We stopped at a gas station on the highway and when she looked at the price, she said it was too expensive, that we'd better find another place - and I remember that it was 47-cents!

(25,927 posts)My Honda Fit has a tiny gas tank, and I rarely put in as much as 8 gallons. Earlier today, I paid $29.94 for 7.502 gallons, at $3.959 per gallons.
And perhaps more to the point, what kind of mileage do you get?
Rhiannon12866
(206,737 posts)I paid $62 for the 15 gallons, and that's counting my 30-cents-off a gallon, the full price was $4.44-a-gallon, but with the discount it was $4.14. I didn't need a full talk so I got $7 change, so it ended up costing me $55 in the end. Since I wait to use my discount, I generally fill up when it goes down past a quarter full. I'm not sure of my mileage, but almost all my driving is local, rather than highway driving.
